To Fly, or not to Fly

Is that the question? Then answer “yes” and book your private flight to join the celebration of William Shakespeare in London!

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of the world’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare. The beloved author is known throughout the world for famous works such as Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet and Othello, many of which have inspired stories throughout other cultures in the centuries since his passing. Fans of Shakespeare will gather in London this year with a variety events celebrating the life and times of the playwright, hosted by a group of leading cultural and educational institutions in coordination with King’s College London.

The Thames River banks will come to life as Shakespeare’s Globe Theater invites you to join The Complete Walk, an iconic 2.5-mile stretch between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge where nearly 40 exclusively-made 10 minute films will be shown. The films will be played during the weekend of April 23-24 and will explore the work and legacy left by Shakespeare, including scenes filmed in locations imagined by the man as he wrote them – think Cleopatra framed by the Pyramids, Hamlet climbing the rocks of Elsinore, and many other iconic scenes.

Shakespeare was as influential as they come, and the Bard’s vision is a pervasive element of today’s theater, opera, dance, and music. In honor of his contributions, King’s College London will be exploring the extent of Shakespeare’s influence in each of the aforementioned arts. This exploration will span the entirety of 2016, and will consist of specially developed performances, concerts, and exhibitions that take the audience on a journey from 1616 to today.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view seldom seen Shakespearean documents at the Inigo Rooms in Somerset house while enjoying a light show and music at the Guildhall. On April 23rd visit the playwright’s home town, Stratford-upon-Avon, and witness a unique performance of King Lear along with some backstage action with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Whether a fan of Shakespeare or not, this once in a lifetime celebration should not be missed.
